Ontario’s Charitable Bingo and Gaming Centres may not enjoy the popularity of online and retail casinos, but they are still a major economic engine to their host communities. Since 2005, the province’s 37 charitable gaming locations have provided over CA$460 million for local communities, funding healthcare, social services, youth sports, and much more.

By playing at one of the 37 locations across the province, a percentage of the proceeds is headed straight into local charities and non-profits. These include hospitals and provincial health charities, services for children and families, support programs for seniors, legions and service clubs, educational groups, services for special needs, multicultural groups and others.

Organizations Team Up to Advance the Sector

Not long ago, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation joined forces with the Commercial Gaming Association of Ontario and the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association to rejuvenate the cGaming centres. New options were added at the venues, and patrons can now play electronic bingo, TAP’N Play cabinets, side games, and Play on Demand personal bingo.

It should also be mentioned that earlier this year, Delta Online Bingo, a brand with over 50 years in the industry, dealt another blow to the Ontarian bingo sector, as it received its iGaming license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Thus, becoming part of the province iGaming sector which produced a handle of over CA$35.6B in its first 12 months of work.

In the meantime, cGaming leaders, CGAO and OCGA are working on advancing the sector. Recently, they announced that they will host this year’s Charitable Gaming Conference on November 7-8 at the Delta Hotel conference in Toronto, Ontario. The two have an important part in advocating for both charities and commercial operators from the cGaming landscape.

The event is the only one to focus entirely on the province’s charitable gaming model. In a newsletter titled, The View, CGAO noted that the conference brings together charitable organizations, commercial casino operators, and government agencies where they will be able to talk networking and have informative sessions in the course of two days.

Sole Legal Provider of iBingo

As mentioned, in May 2023, Delta Bingo became the only regulated provider of online bingo services in the province. For the launch of digital offerings, the brand partnered up with Broadway Gaming and utilized the latter’s cutting-edge Dragonfish software. Now, players in Ontario can enjoy bingo games online and play against other real-time players for some hefty prizes.

But that was not all, as Delta Bingo, which runs a number of land-based locations in the province also struck an agreement with OCGA. Via this partnership, the operator will be able to aid not-for-profit organizations that provide services to communities, support families, youth, vulnerable individuals, and culture, education, sports and recreation, and much more.
